Anyone familiar or following the DASH Diet. Saw it on DR OZ yesterday and it looked interesting. Of course, weight loss is still about calories in < calories out through exercise.

I googled but sounds a lot like the start of SouthBeach.

It is a diet with intentions of fighting high blood pressure. I followed it religiously about 5 years ago and successfully lost about 40 pounds, 205 > 165, took about 6 months, and lowered my blood pressure quite a bit.
It is also an excellent diet if you want to adjust your cholesterol/triglyceride levels.
Unfortunately I fell off the wagon and had to do it all over again.
Although we no longer follow the diet religiously we do follow it in a more general sense.
The only negative that comes to mind is that it was a bit on the bland side but that could have been a result of the DASH recipe book we used.
I would consider it a middle of the road, non-controversial, safe diet, that most people could agree with. As mentioned it has a lot in common with South Beach.0
