Eat the food.
Re assess your calorie goal every 5lbs gained.
Lift heavy things so it isn't all a fat gain.

What kinds of food though? I read the post on the hard gainer thread and it says to stay away from clean foods? Does that mean it is ok for me to eat fast foods? That is what i was consuming before this journey. Also, if i lift heavy, will i bulk up? Because i am not trying to bulk. Im just trying to get lean...not concentrating too much on gaining muscle except for on my legs because i have chicken legs lol.0

Assuming you're wanting to build muscle to get to 170, here's a good read by Lyle McDonald on the limits of muscle gain requisite caloric surplus. https://bodyrecomposition.com/muscle-gain/muscle-gain-math.html/
In short, there's a limit to how much you can gain in a given amount of time based on many factors. If you try to gain weight faster than that limit anything you gain on top of that will be fat.
Strategy I suggest:
- Figure out your actual TDEE
- Eat at a surplus requisite to your lifting level as detailed in the linked article (around 200 cal/day if you're a beginner)
- Follow a proven resistance training program that incorporates progressive overload. There's a stickied thread with a big list, however I prefer the more concise list in the wiki at r/fitness. r/gainit is probably a good resource to check out as well and you'll be able to connect with others who have similar goals.

No you dont.
Unless you have some sort of metabolic altering illness or disease. You just dont eat enough. 2900 calories is nothing for gaining weight. I'm at 3300 just to maintain. The moment you get the notion of having a high metabolism out of your head the easier this will be.
Eat whatever you want. Foods you enjoy. Just make sure to hit your goal. Every. Single. Day.0
