Help getting back on the wagon....

It's been quite a while since I've even looked at this place. My life has been mega hectic and stressful and tracking, eating right etc are just not at the top of the list.

Here's why I'm back: I went to dietician last week, weighed in at 300.7lbs. This is a number I DO NOT want to see. Yet here I am...
I also have a trip in January and refuse to be this heavy when I go.

Right I know my problem is my mind set. I don't feel "fat" (sorry if that's not PC, it's true). I've been lucky enough to gain my weight evenly. So when I tell my friend about it, they don't believe me. (I've always been pudgy). I'm 5'11" and 300.7lbs... I need help getting back on the wagon.

I'm almost done with my last summer class, and I just quit my new job. I plan on working out 5 days a week in August. 60mins/day (30 cardio, 30 strength). A few of those days will be with my trainer.

I just need some advice and words of encouragement. Maybe help with some realisitic short goals, cuz I want to have a smaller goal to hit before my big trip.

Thanks in advance guys!

welcome - you know sometimes i felt that way over the past couple of months. even though i don't really see my old thin self when i look in the mirror, i still did not expect to see such a high number on the scale when i decided to lose weight. words of encouragement: short term goals work best and not just scale numbers. if you can walk 2 miles when you couldn't before, that's a goal. and find small goals like your pants fit better or someone said your hair looked pretty. find goals not tied to your weight. :):)

the mind plays tricks with body image. one can think they're thin when they are absolutely not... I recall when I got overweight..all of a sudden other people who looked fat to me before looked normal size.

And a friend whom I thought was too thin almost anorexic ..was really a normal attractive weight. I know this because I've lost my weight and she looks absolutely normal to me now.

I think this phenomenon is why people can be overweight for so long..they just don't see it. Thank goodness for the scale so we can face the truth. It is great you were weighed by your doctor.. the scale doesn't lie. You can have that weight off before you know it. Good luck.. read the success forums.. they are so motivating and filled with people who have accomplished wonderful weight loss goals.

Log your food. If you’ve eaten anything yet today just go ahead and log it.... right now. You don’t have to change everything at once but consistently logging your food (even when over your calories) is the biggest step. When you go off track or have a bad day, log it anyway. Take a selfie and save it for later.

I also didn’t feel that big when I started. I didn’t like having to buy larger pants, but I somehow persuaded myself that everything was fine. Now that I am further in my journey I was scrolling through my photos in my phone and noticed that my face is looking much thinner than it did in April. I knew my pants are two sizes smaller but somehow I hadn’t realized that I look different. I can see shoulder bones.
