Addicted to sugar

Diet day 1. What tips do you have for a sugar addict? I pass the ice cream parlor everyday (no alternative route) and they know me by name and what I order. I eat dessert before dinner. 😫

Sugar addiction isn't really a thing. But if you want to eliminate added sugar forever.....just don't eat it.
Instead, I manage my sugar intake (because I'm not giving it up forever). I allow myself so many "fun" calories each day as long as that fits my overall goals. If my weekly weight loss goal isn't too high, I have some wiggle room.
I eat 2 dark chocolate squares (individually wrapped) or an ice cream bar, or a 100 calorie pack of cookies. I save these calories for late in the day, log it, and then I'm done for the day. It's something to look forward to and I am more choosy now. The whole cookie "whenever" thing won't fit with maintenance goals. Snacking is what got me here.7 -
Sugar addiction is REAL. Go slow and try and substitute fruit with jello or sugar free puddings whipped cream. (Make your own if possible) and don’t skimp on protein. Get your daily of that and veggies in to fill you up. Pretty soon, you won’t be thinking about it so much.10

I suggest reading Habit by Duhigg. Getting yourself a much deserved reward after a hard day's work sounds like a really great idea. I suggest replacing the reward. Are there other relaxing rewarding stops on the way home? Is there a park bench perhaps? Replace the reward and the habit is broken.
Get yourself a bag of hard sugar free candies. Around here various flavours can be got that are flavoured with Sorbitol. Or use sugar free gum. Hard candies take a while to consume and you can make supper while having your sweet.2 -
Me too - I can only drink tea with sugar - my 3pm snack is another sugar boost..... I am trying to eliminate the sugar fixes one by one - eg changed my 3pm sugar snacks with fruit and drinking coffee. Sugar addiction is real and like any addiction it is hard to break the cycle - What about trying a fruit sorbet if they do them in the ice-cream parlor - Mainly fruit and ice - right? At least fruit is better sugar ......see if they have one??8
