Working student trying to lose 80lbs

Hey everyone i am just on another bender that im going to try and stick to.
I need to get this weight off and try to get healthy. I work as a server and i walk 4-9miles a day and although i might burn calories its not a healthy exercise. I also dont ever eat enough or i dont eat the right foods when I work a 12hour double.
I am also an engineering student so i have no real time.
I get stuck staying at the same weight always 220-230 its constantly changing but always between thise numbers.

This is all very hard and i think im just trying to stay motivated and keep up with everything. I want so badly to get healthy and build strength.

I feel like im the only one like this sometimes but i know its not true.
I would also like to point out that I just started seeing this guy and he is so wonderful. I found out he has lost over 100lbs in the last year and that is so inspirational. BTW he thinks im perfect and me trying to get healthy is nothing to do with him.
I want to be a positive influence on myself and him.
I feel as though im rambling.

    Welcome!
Apply to health and weightloss the same line of thinking that you use in school.

Weight is controlled by calories in/out (CICO) over time.
You control CICO by eating less (and moving more).
That is something you do, not try.
What you eat, does not influence CICO.
What you eat, can influence how easy it will be to eat less.
There are no "right" or "wrong" foods.
There are no "right" or "wrong" times to eat.
A day has 24 hours. You obviously have time to eat. So you have time to eat less.
If you think something is going to be hard, it will be hard.
If you focus your effort on staying motivated, you'll burn out in no time, and maybe not even start.
Weight problems is one of the major health issues in our society.

    Hi,

The good news is losing weight is simple (but not always easy). Eat less than you burn and that's it. There's no need to complicate things, it's as simple as that.

Put your details into MFP and it will give you a calorie goal. Now all you need to do is accurately log everything you eat and stick as close to that goal as you can by any means necessary.

To begin with I'd recommend keeping it as simple as possible. Forget macros, forget about good food and bad food, forget about exercising and all that stuff. Just start by eating foods you like (even if they're "bad"), the foods you're eating now, in amounts that let you keep your calorie deficit build from there.

As you go along you will start to make discoveries. You'll learn things like what foods make you feel satisfied, what foods you like that are the best calorie 'bang for your buck'. What foods you like that you really need to keep an eye on so they don't blow your calories out.

It might also help you to approach this like you would anything new. You'll more than likely not be perfect right away so don't aim for perfect. Aim for good, then learn and get better.

    G'luck

I am in a similar situation as you. Working 2 jobs and going to school.

Both of my jobs cause me to be around food. Fast food and server.

It's hard to for me to make the best food choices when I am on the go so much. But I try to pack snacks, cut back on soda and meal prep on Mondays.

Good luck. Feel free to friend me

I feel your pain. I have been on the diet roller coaster for most of my 60 years. Up, down, up, down. A Dr. once told me, "Its simple, calories in-calories out" as Kommodevaran said above. It actually ticked me off that she told me that because I didn't feel that I was eating that much. But the truth is we are all so very different, yet the same. Some of my friends can eat more than me, and they don't gain weight. It's just that for me, I have to find the magic number. If you exercise, maybe you can have a little more, if you don't, than its a little less. I like what Danp said, "Losing weight is simple, just not always easy". Oh my gosh how true that is. There are so many diets out there, but the one thing about every single piece of food is that it contains calories. We get to choose how we're going to "spend" our calories. So, bottom line is the choice is ours. Not easy? Not always. Simple? Always. I will be thinking of and praying for you because I know the struggle is so real. Be encouraged by so many people on your post. People are listening.
