Hi. I'm Brittany. I'm very fat.
A few years back, I joined MFP after realizing I was over 300 pounds (303 to be exact). And you know what? I lost 16 pounds! And then I hit what I now realize was a small plateau and stopped trying.
I didn't just stop trying, but over the course of the next 5 years, I packed on lots of weight. I knew I was gaining, but I wasn't ready to lose weight yet.
I visited my parents back in early June and stepped on a scale for the first time in a long time. I was not surprised to see it read 350. With my 26th birthday approaching quickly, I realized I need to make a serious change now - after all, you always hear how hard it is to lose weight after 30. I also realized that I've literally been overweight or obese since a very young age and I've never seen my collarbones. It's a weird and very specific thing to realize, but I think I would like to see them at some point in my life.
Two weeks ago, I signed up for a free trial on another popular weight loss app and was pleasantly surprised that it worked! I have lost about 8 pounds so far since June, and have many, many more to go. I decided not to continue with the app I was using, as its calorie counter function is not as built up as this one. The "health coach" you receive checks in once a week and actually didn't do much for me by way of accountability. (And also their BBB rating was F).
I was worried at first about not having a coach to hold me accountable, but I realize now that I lost weight on my own, not thanks to someone who checks in once a week to tell you to eat more vegetables.
Anyway, that's my story.

Welcome Brittany. Your story is very familiar to me, it sounds a lot like my own. What you need to remember is that you're accountable only to yourself. No one else is going to be able to browbeat you into this, you said yourself "I wasn't ready to lose". You are ready now, so hold yourself accountable. If however, you'd like a friend to cheer you on or remind you to breathe when it feel a little too heavy, add me. I'd be happy to have another friend who's ready to be healthier.1
