Recipe fails that turn out okay?

I make a tuna pasta salad with Greek yogurt. Today I got all the ingredients ready, saving the yogurt for last only to find I forgot to get yogurt this week... so I used low fat cottage cheese instead...its not bad. It doesn't bring the same tang that yogurt has, but it'll do!
Anyone else have cooking flubs that have turned out okay?

Protein fluff. My blender I haven't used in like oh 7 years burnt up in a puff of smoke before it could fluff. I froze it overnight, and then set in my fridge to thaw for a few hours. I put the slushy mix in my kitchen aid mixer, and voila. Fluff. It was between just ok and pretty good, lol. I'm in search of a new blender and refining my fluffing technique before I give up.

Another one: I was attempting to make burgers on the grill with mixing turkey burger and chorizo sausage. The meat did not hold up at all and crumbled to bits on the grill. I scooped up what I could save, and finished cooking in a pan. It turned from tex mex burgers to Mexican Tortas sandwiches and was actually good enough to recreate later, lol!

Would you mind sharing the recipe (yogurt or cottage cheese no matter because I like both of them) or direct me to the website where you got it?

Few years ago a was visiting a friend and helping her with a group dinner. She asked me to make guacamole using the fresh tomato salsa that she "bought" at the store. The salsa was not in the fridge and she realized that she either forgot to buy it or left it at the store. I said no worries, let's open and drain a can of mild (Rotel) diced tomatoes with green chilies. Best guacamole ever! all her friends were asking for the recipe. Boom!

Um, this happens to me all the time, but mostly b/c I forget to thaw something out. I hate thawing in the microwave so I normally end up substituting whatever I have sitting around.
this time I had the ground beef on hand but... when making spaghetti in the instant pot I poured everything in and went to get the spaghetti sauce and didn't have any in the pantry. I grabbed some tomato paste, some diced tomatoes, minced garlic and threw in a whole bunch of oregano and seasoning. Came out pretty darn good and no one in the house knew the difference.

@Gisel2015 I cook from my heart, or maybe my belly and NEVER MEASURE or really use a recipe. I am a total foodie weirdo! I have only just started to weigh my food/recipes. Here's what I made:

3 egg, Hard Boiled - Large
    224.00 gram, Spaghetti
    21.00 gram, Onion
2 can drained, Packed In Water-
    95 g (1/2 c), Frozen Green Peas*don't cook just add frozen

    84 gram, Celery
52.00 g, Peppers, sweet, red, raw
160 g, Low Fat Cottage Cheese
60 g (1 Tbsp), Mayonaise With Olive Oil
*I just noticed the recipe maker didn't put in that I used whole wheat pasta-Ill have to change that, and I used light tuna.
It came out good. Now that I know cottage cheese is good in this, next time I will try a mix of yogurt and cottage cheese and completely omit the mayo. I will also add that it was a little dry-but I am trying to lose weight and did not want to overdo it with the cottage cheese. Next time I'd also add a little dill and or some celery salt. Or maybe even some season salt.
    I love sharing recipes!

Thank you for the recipe. I am not good at following cookbook recipes either. I just used them as a guidance and I make my own substitution. I know already that I will substitute edamame pasta in the one that you sent me o:)

    Thank you for sharing!

My boyfriend was making spaghetti and then realized we had no vodka sauce. He heated up a can of broccoli cheddar soup and used that instead. It even went well with the meatballs.

I was making stir fry shrimp and we didn't have any teriyaki or ginger. I cooked the shrimp in paprika, Sriracha and mustard and made a spicy mustard version. It was really good!

Cottage cheese goes well in scrambled eggs too.

I love using it in tuna, chicken, or egg salad since mayo is kinda nasty.

I was mixing a marinade of soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, salt, pepper, touch of honey, dash cayenne, garlic, spoon of plain Greek yogurt to make it creamy, and then reached for dried ginger and that jar was nowhere to be found. I grabbed this ginger syrup someone bought me and used that in it. Now I keep making this mixture and using it as salad dressing. I could drink it it's so good. I've also asked them for more ginger syrup

I love this! People who cook are so creative and innovative! I will be looking for the ginger syrup and am about to google edamame pasta because I have never heard of it.
