While entering my cereal I scanned the bar code and noticed my cereal had “lots of vit C” looked at nutr. info to see 0%. Always double
check!! Don’t take everything at face value!

Entries are mostly user entered and there are many errors and missing info - you can edit incorrect entries on the website

I scanned a pack of salad yesterday, according to the app it was Thai Noodles.

I've never scanned but if I did I would always verify the entry against the package.

Some people think scanning barcodes is more accurate than hand entering foods on MFP, because (they think) technology is magic. It isn't. No matter how we log our food here, it's a good exercise to double-check the entries we use until our "Recent" and "Frequent" foods are populated with reliable entries.

The database is crowd-sourced. The plus of that is there are entries for many more foods than a central staff could reasonably input. The minus is that a bunch of entries are inaccurate. They're the same entries whether you pull them up by bar code, or by hands-on-keyboard.
