Is too much protein bad?

I have lost about 50 pounds or so in 7 months and I still have 15 pounds to go before I start bulking. I do strength training so I make sure I get enough protein. At the low end ill get about 125g to a high of 180g a day. I heard taking too much protein can cause a person to hold onto the last few pounds of weight. Should I cut down on protein?
