Sometimes when I'm bored I just want to eat things and cure my boredom by chewing. Does anyone have any cures they use to banish boredom eating?

There is no cure, not really. You have to stop thinking about yourself as someone who eats just because.1

Take up a hobby1 -
Be mindful of it. Catch yourself if you are doing it and stop. Do something else. Adult coloring books, or learn to knit, or go for a walk.1

Stay busy, get a hobby, chew gum? I have noticed that many of us who live in affluent countries have wwaaayyyy to much time on our hands. We have all kinds of technology to make our lives easier. Now, we are bored. If we look at a population, like the Amish, they have low rates of morbid obesity. What's their secret? Well, I lived in Midwest Amish country for a few years. They fascinated me. So, I started reading up on them and trying to study them when I could get close enough. This makes me no expert, before someone points this out. What I learned. First, well, they are incredibly active. They start their day at sun up and work till sun down 6 days a week. Even on their day of rest, they still have work to do. 2. They eat loads of carbs and fats! Though they do not partake in much highly processed food. 3. They are mindful of eating. Many sit around a table with family for meals and do not heavily snack through the day, with set meal times. 4. Well, no tv or computers. Lol
Now, I am not stating that we should all become technologically impaired farmer's, but I believe if we all took a more moderate way of Amish life, we might not have time to be bored and eat. IMHO.0
