I created my own recipe and it would be nice if I could put in the serving size

Why can't you? Take the total number of grams it weighs together, then divide by the amount you want for the serving, like 100 grams. Make that one serving or however many grams you want. 100 is just an easy multiplier.

By deciding how many servings you want the recipe to be, you determine the serving size. I always include the serving size in the name of the recipe. For example, let's say I weighed a small pot of chili and it was 600 g. I might decide to tell MFP it makes 3 servings, and I would name it "Chili (srvg = 200 g)".

Thank you, that is a great idea, I didn't think about putting the serving size weight in the title. I usually weigh each serving and put it on the package if I am freezing the package. In the title sounds better.

I found it is easier to write all the ingredients on a piece of paper and then add the recipe later after I have finished.

Yes, I normally do either that (write as I cook and then add the recipe to MFP) or input the recipe first, jot down any weight adjustments as I'm cooking, and then go back and edit the recipe. The latter approach I mostly use for baking when I'm following a recipe and know that I'm not likely to make any major changes.

When I build the recipe, I make the total servings the weight in grams. So, say a 1800g pot of soup would be saved as "soup, 1800 servings" and when I weigh my portion out and its 250g, I log 250 servings.

I do the same thing (# servings is how much the whole thing weighs)

Unless it's something like meatballs or cookies or something that you can just count.
