Knee Trouble

So weak knees are on the mother's side of the family but they've never really been an issue for me until yesterday. My knee suddenly went POP and felt like it shifted something it shouldn't have. Since then it's been bloody tender! Stairs and bending are tough.
My question is is it safe to work out my legs? If not, when will it be? Do i wait until it stops hurting completely or until it's bearable?

RICE for a few days, see a physio.

Don't push through pain. Think long term as this acute phase will pass - be kind to your knees and they may last you a lifetime.
If this is an isolated occurrence then rest until the soreness and inflammation has gone. If you get repeat episodes then get a proper diagnosis which will lead you on to how to manage your condition.2 -
Thanks! I'll lay off leg work until it feels better. If it isn't better in a few days I'll go see a doctor3

I'd go see a doctor regardless.3

I would go get it checked out.. I have a cyst, partially torn meniscus and a bad MCL in one of my knees. And a bad ACL in the other. I'm not saying lightly that earlier treatment is better.2

I've booked in and heading for an MRI scan to clear up anything going inside. Thanks for the replies ❤3

Good plan. I did something similar a few years ago and my kneecap had dislocated. I didn't go to the doctor for a week and that was a Mistake I hope all will be well for you!!0
