Marinade

Hey all! I am making a honey mustard marinade for 6 chicken breasts tonight. The recipe calls for:

3/4 cup honey
1/2 cup Dijon mustard
1/2 cup lemon juice
1/2 cup Bragg's liquid amino acids
2 cloves garlic.

I know it's a lot of marinade and that most of it will be tossed after, but for right now I created a recipe and logged everything. Each serving is coming to roughly 380 calories even though for 6 people I am only using 2 pounds of boneless skinless chicken breasts.

Does this sound accurate? Any tips or advice is appreciated 😁

if you want to reduce the calories cut back on the honey, that's where the most calories are

also, that's going to make a lot of marinade, over 2 cups for just 2 lbs of chicken breasts - I'm guessing you really only need about 1/2 cup total if you are brushing it on, so reducing the quantity will help as well

I would halve that marinade recipe. There is a ton of sugar in honey.

You're not going to use a lot of the marinade (it's mainly so the chicken is saturated in the bag evenly), so weighing the bag before adding the chicken, then weighing the bag again after can give you an idea of what proportion of the marinade you used. You can then divide the amount used by the amount of pieces (6 if everyone eats the same amount). It's not perfect but it'll give you a much better idea of how much actually went into the chicken. You can then add a buffer if you want.
