For the last bit, do more of whatever you did for the first bit.

They say eat clean, go low carb and lower salt intake to look the best. The low carb and lower salt will decrease water retention. I am far from needing to cut like that but it sounds right.

This will do nothing to reduce fat unless going low carb and "clean" put you in a calorie deficit.

    OP, read this thread: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1161603/so-you-want-a-nice-stomach

Low carb and low salt is a terrible idea unless you want flu like symptoms, especially as you get closer to ketogenic. When you cut carbs, you reduce glycogen stores, reducing electrolytes. This in turn requirws you to consume more sodium to replenish those electrolytes.

OP, lose weight and lift weights to build the muscle underneath.

As well as eating in a calorie deficit and working out your abs, you may want to consider you're not eating anything that bloats you. You also wanna work on your transverse abdominis. This muscle is generally overlooked because it isn't superficial. It's your innermost abs if you will. It's behind your rectus abdominals "6 pack" and it wraps around your core. It's known as the corset muscle because it has a sucking in effect if it's firing and active. To feel this muscle, lie down on your stomach with your face down, now pretend you wanna pick up and ice cube with your belly button. That tension you feel from doing that is your TA. To work the muscle just perform static holds for as long as you can. Try to increase your duration over time. You can perform this on your back or facing up, just be sure in both cases when doing it your pelvis is in a neutral position and not ridiculously arched (if might be if you have an anterior pelvic tilt). Just keep your pelvis neutral then breath out then tense while still breathing. You can go further and do something called a hollow hold. You simply do the exercise I outlined but facing up, this time you lift your legs and your arms up to around 45 degrees. It doesn't have to be exact but somewhere in that region. This increases the intensity of the workout. Then just hold it for as long as possible 5 - 7 times.

Another exercise you can do to get your core tight is stomach vacuums. Here's a video explaining that https://youtu.be/14veOCV46z8. There's also tons of transverse abdominis videos on YouTube you can look into.

    Good luck man.
