Welcome! You don't have to hope to lose weight, because you lose weight over time when you eat less, consistently and for real. That's something you do, so you don't need luck, but you can't just try. Use the tools MFP provides - your food diary, the food database and your calorie target. Buy and use a food scale, check every entry you use, and log everything you eat (and drink that has calories), and you will succeed.1
