How do you log meals? I mean meals that someone else cooked? I personally am pretty anal about accurate logging that I need to see all ingredients 🤦🏾‍♀️when that’s not possible I opt for the generic meal choice on MFP! How do you log meals when there is no particular serving size? As far as dissecting the ingredients and logging every seasoning used?

You really shouldn't use database entries that are a recipe or whole meal as you have no idea what whoever created that entry used to make it.

I just log the components as best I can. It gets easier the longer you log, and the more accurate you weigh out your portions when you can.

Estimating what you actually see in front of you will be more accurate than just picking a random database entry.

If you're logging your own meals accurately you probably have a good idea of what volume many foods are at a certain weight. If you're not confident with weight, go for volume. You can see if food has been prepared with oil or another fat, so add that in. If its a friend's meal, be inquisitive about how it was prepared.

Seasoning (herbs and spices, salt and pepper) aren't going to add a whole lot of calories. Just go for the main calorie-adding elements

Unless I can easily dissect the ingredients, I “quick add” a guesstimate and move on with my Day.
