Weight apparently began to plummet-how is this possible?

For about three weeks, I was noticing a gradual-ish weight drop after my diet change. Then, this weekend, it seemed to just start plummeting. If my scale's to be believed, I've lost four pounds since Friday, which I'm not sure if that can even be right. I know I have been eating VERY light this weekend as I consider foods I may be intolerant to, but four pounds or more in three days?

Heck, I weight myself this morning and tonight and the scale is trying to tell me I've lost two pounds in just in a matter of 12 hours.

Less food in your system, presumably less carb/sodium intake meaning less water weight. Enjoy the whoosh but remember most of it will come back when you return to your normal intake.

Perhaps it’s the fat whoosh phenomenon lol. Something about how the fat cells retain water at first to stay expanded in the hopes they will get filled with fat then once they realize they won’t they let go of that water and shrink down. (Something along those lines in a more scientific, smarter worded way 😋😂)

Happens all the time. Don't pay much attention to it. Just water flushing out. And maybe poo.

You'll always be a different weight on different scales?

Maybe a whoosh. Did you have to pee more often, especially at night? :D Then it's likely a whoosh.

I don't think so. But I know my scale is trying to tell me I lost over a pound in just two hours. XD

Welcome to the wonderful world of weight fluctuations. It's mostly water retention, and water can swing the scale rapidly. There's a lot of other things that can affect what the scale says, including how much stuff you have in your stomach and digestive tract.

Just try to weigh yourself at the same time (first thing in the morning is optimal) every time and trend long term. Short term fluctuations are normal, long term trends are what counts

One doesn't lose weight linearly. Here is my last 6 months. You will see periods of rapid and periods of gradual loss.

I have lost 5lbs in 24 hours after some water retention was finally flushed. I have also lost .6lbs in 5 minutes when I weighed, urinated, and then out of curiosity weighed again.

I don't know for sure but I am fairly confident my weight will be up today because I had sushi yesterday. I would guess 3 to 4lbs. By Thurs it will likely be down 5 or 6 with the excess water retention loss and fat loss I will experience between now and then.

    weight loss isn't linear.

some weeks youll lose nothing, some weeks youll lose a lot.

its the overall trend you want to look at.
