Hi all. I am a 38 year old, 6ft male and my current weight is 13st 3lbs. My first goal is to get to 13st and then ultimately 12 - 12st 5lbs. Is 1lb loss a week too much since I don’t have a great distance to go, should I set my loss to 1/2lb loss instead?
Thanks in advance

Both are good choices. Do whatever you feel you can manage easily. Maybe 1 pound now, and 1/2 pound when you get to 13 stone?1

Either goal is fine - 1lb a week for only 5 weeks isn't going to result in anything negative.
It's a very different situation to many people on here who have a lot to lose that will take them months or years when an excessive and prolonged deficit results in poor outcomes.
Comes down to preference, are you someone who likes small changes and patience or are you determined short term and like the "reward" of seeing quicker progress?2 -
Some people prefer slower weight loss to help maintain muscle. Start with 1/2 pound and see how you feel. Make changes as necessary.0

Thanks for the replies. I’ll stay at 1lb a week loss until I hit 13st and then switch to 1/2lb a week from then on. I heard that the less weight you had to lose, the slower you should do it.2
