Just starting Keto, and have questions. using Keto Tone BHB supliment to start.

I'm just starting the Keto diet, and I am wondering what ranges should I stay in with the Carb/Protein/Fat intake. I also ordered the Keto Tone (shark tank) pills. do they help? also ordered Garcinia Cambogia. does it help, and can they be used together?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
PS. I'm 53 years old, 285lbs. went to the hospital a couple weeks ago with chest pain. It turned out to be a false alarm, and my ticker is fine, but that trip to the hospital scared me enough to start loosing weight, so the Ticker stays "Fine".

Thanks again Folks.

Sorry to hear about your health scare. But that also means it's time to take things seriously. To lose weight, you have to eat less - be in a calorie deficit. No way around that. Don't fiddle with keto and pills. MFP's default is good enough. Think, hard but fast, how you would like to eat and move every day for the next five years. Make a plan that incorporates those two things - a calorie deficit, and a sustainable regimen. Make sure the plan contains no items that will derail you. For derailed you will be tempted to be. Set yourself up for success from the start.

You might want to check out the low carbers group for advise. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/394-low-carber-daily-forum-the-lcd-group

You don't need to take any supplements to lose weight or to do keto, and considering you had chest pain and are concerned about your heart, I personally would avoid diet supplements that aren't recommended by your doctor. Garcinia Cambogia doesn't do anything good. I don't do keto so I have no idea what the spiel behind keto supplements are.

Focus on getting your calories in line, go with whatever way of eating helps you do that, and best of luck!

Those supplements will make your wallet lighter, but that's the only benefit you'll see from them. The only people who benefit from weight loss "supplements" are the people selling them.

Eat less. Move more. Ta da.

    Set your goals.

    Log your food.

Study your food diary and pay attention to your hunger levels after certain foods.

    Take a walk.

    That's all you need. Free.

I lost 70+ pounds in just a few months doing only ^^That^^

There are very few supplements that actually are worth a crap and none of the legal ones will help with fat loss. If you want things to improve the ability to lift, improve recovery or cardiovascular health there are a few.

The biggest impact to health is losing weight and exercise. Also, if you are concerned, i would eat a bunch of processed meats on keto, but rather focus on getting most of your fat from unsaturated sources. Because at best saturated fats don't help you, at worse they can adversely effect some. While MUFA/PUFA are much higher correlated to improved metabolic markers, especially Omega 3s.

No matter what food path you decide to follow, pre-log all your meals, snacks - anything that goes into your mouth - and make sure you are in a calorie deficit for the day. Get a food scale and use it to measure your food.
Wishing you all the best. You can do this and you will be so glad you did :)

Sorry about the health scare! But glad you’re doing something before you’re really forced to.

If you’re starting Keto, you really should already know what Marco ranges to set for yourself. I’d really encourage doing more research before you start—you’ll have a better chance of success if you fully understand what you’re doing and what happens during Keto. There’s a low-carver group here and they can help you with basics.

What you need to lose weight is a calorie deficit (eat fewer calories than you burn each day). And keto is one way of eating to do that. It works great for some, not for others. Not for me—you can pry my potatoes out of my cold, dead fingers and not a second before!

The best diet is the one that is sustainable for you in the long term and not something done just to lose weight. You want to learn new habits that will help you maintain that weight loss for the foreseeable future. Permanent change!

I’m 53 and almost your weight so I know where you’re coming from. I have some health issues, and t scared me into making a commitment to a different way of eating. Keep it Simple. Don’t make fancy Keto desserts at first thinking they’ll help you lose weight. They’re options when you neeeed a dessert.

I think a good multivitamin is fine, and drink water!!

I aim for 5 percent net carbs. I keep mine total calories in at 1500.

    I’m just starting back too.
