Quinoa Calories: Can anyone help?!

Hiiii,
I need to understand this cooked vs uncooked thing to make sure I am tracking my calories accurately. So I measure my quinoa uncooked, for eg 150gs uncooked quinoa (in the app this is 198 kCals..) Does this mean that I am eating 198 kCals worth of quinoa when it is cooked, if I ate the entire 150gs?
Seriously confused and don’t want to be overeating calories. Can anyone help me please? 🤦🏼♀️

yes - i will say that seems like a REALLY low calorie count thought - you so you may want to double check
because the 100g uncooked quinoa entry i found was 368 calories - so multiple that by 1.5 and you get 552calories0 -

Yes, just keep in mind that if you start with 150 g dry you won't get 150 g cooked as you added water. That's why you always need to know if your entry is for unprepared (dry/uncooked/raw) or cooked.0 -
So this is the brand and calories that I have, and the calories that come up for 150g uncooked on this app says 198. Is this incorrect?0 -
According to your label, it's 198 calories for 150 g COOKED.
237 cal /180 g cooked * 150 g cooked = 197.5.0 -

237 cal /180 g cooked * 150 g cooked = 197.5.
In which case, it’s wrong on the app as it says uncooked. How do I determine the calories of the quinoa for 150g uncooked?

Use "Quinoa, uncooked 20035" which corresponds to the USDA entry https://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb/foods/show/20035 and do 1.5 servings of 100 grams.0 -

To avoid confusion, I always weigh my grains and beans DRY, and then and search and log dry weights in MFP.
When I make a pot of beans or pre-cook grains to store in the fridge, I'll weigh out 4 - 6 servings by dry weight, then cook as usual and then weigh the completed "wet" dish and divide by the number of servings I cooked.
When I store it, I put a piece of tape on the storage container with something like "28D / 121W", so I can remember that a 121 gram serving of the "WET" (or "cooked") dish can be recorded as 28 g dry in MFP.

I eat Trader Joe’s white quinoa. One serving dry is 42 grams which is 160 calories cooked.
I weigh the number of servings I’m cooking, usually 4 or 5 at once, measure out the water and then cook.
Once cooked, I weigh the cooked quinoa and then divide that weight by the number of servings I weighed out at the beginning.
Each serving I take out of the big bowl is weighed so I know the calorie/nutrient count.
I keep a scratch pad on the fridge for my bulk cookings like this.0
