What do you aim for?

Do you aim to be under your net calorie goal each day or have it equal out to your goal. I'm always under 95% of the time; I work-out alot. Will this hender weightloss? I use a HRM and I burn some serious calories during workouts. I try to eat those back so my body will "know" to release the unwanted fat but it become difficult.

I always aim for Zero left at the end of the day.
Having some leftover calories might be OK if they come from exercise calories, but too many will hinder your weightloss and decrease your chances for long term maintenance of the loss.
What kind of exercise are you doing and how many calories are you logging for it? How many leftover calories do you usually have?0 -
I aim to be within 50 calories of my goal each day, including eating back exercise calories. I lost the weight once before this way and I'm back for a second round after I let my "holiday weight" catch up with me. Apparently my holidays stretched from November to May :grumble:0

Ideally you want to aim for net daily calorie goal every day, or pretty close. If you're a little over one day, a little under the next it's ok as long as it averages out.
I hate to say it but I think your HRM is overestimating your burns. Over 900 calories for a 4 mile walk is just way too much...
A typical person burns about 100 calories per mile. As you are overweight, you might burn more than that so let's call it 130 calories per mile. Looks like you walked just over 4 miles in total yesterday (a little over an hour at 4mph) so I would estimate a burn of more like 520 calories.
What kind of HRM do you have (brand/model)?0 -
It varies of what is actually left over. I use a HRM with every activity that I do so I know exactly what I burned. example yesterday I burned 900+ and had quite a bit leftover from that but my actual food consumption was 140 calories over my 1360 Im suppose to eat a day.0

I have a MIO by Physi-cal. I walk at a fast pace of course but, I've been using this HRM for about 3 months doing Insanity and other variety of workouts and my weightloss picked up rather than just using MFP calculations. I started at 293 (FEB) now I'm 258(end of July)0 -
I actually aim for a happy medium between what my dietician has recommended and what MFP recommends.
My dietician recommends consuming 1600 a day and then exercising 3 times a week for 30 minutes or so. She doesn't have me track exercise calories at all and the 1600 does not change as a daily goal.
MFP recommends a 1580 NET, which of course adjusts my gross calories daily depending on what, if any, exercise I do and log.
So, on a daily basis I have to pay attention to both my net and my gross calories.
The minimum acceptable to me is GROSS 1200. The maximum acceptable to me is NET 1600.
Sometimes those values can look really wacky on MFP though because I might actually consume 2500 calories, but due to exercise, my NET is in the negative and I get that silly little message that I'm starving. Or conversely, I might not "stay under my calorie goal for the day" because I consumed 1600 calories and didn't exercise at all.0 -

I have a lot to lose still so I tend to figure my calorie goal for 1 lb loss and 2 lb loss then just eat between those two numbers. If I'm hungry I'll eat to just over the 2 lb loss goal. If I'm not I try to get to or over the 1 lb loss goal.0

I agree everything is an estimate who or what man made thing really knows anything but thats a different subject, lol Maybe I should be checking the pace I'm going when I walk...due to MY BF has told me even though Im heavy as I am, my walk is a jog for some people. I never was concerned with pace, just calories in and out, but maybe I should. my HR has gotten up to 150 in 15 min.0
