How does apple watch work with mfp?

I have an apple watch where my calorie goal is 530. I just started back up here on mfp so I'm getting reacquainted and trying to figure out how these technologies work with each other. I notice that the calories I burn don't translate to the exercise calories granted~ I don't expect them to but now I wonder how all of my apple exercise calories translate into mfp. If anyone can bring me up to date, thanks!
