Yes! I too watched Serenity on a whim and then found the series. Alas, why cant this one be brought back in some form on Netflix, SyFy or some other channel or outlet.

If Netflix can bring back Arrested Development surely they could bring back Firefly...maybe...pretty please?! I LOVE Firefly and go through the series about once a year.

Heh -- I was at the movie theatre to watch Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and saw a preview for Serenity, where they mentioned the series. The preview looked kick-*kitten*, so I decided to download and watch the series.

May be the best weekend of my life. Just about fell out of my chair when River started to "fix" his bible.
    YoSafBridge.
    I'll be in my bunk.
"Can we go to the crappy little town where I'm a hero?"

So much awesomeness, so few brains at Fox.

A few of the key people are kinda busy elsewhere. Nathan and Morena have a pretty full schedule I believe, and it seems Alan Tudyk is just freaking everywhere.. And Fox still owns the rights. Joss talked about it once, and said something about having to ruin several people's careers to make it happen again.

My husband added Firefly to our Netflix instant queue a while back and made me watch the first episode. I wasn't convinced at first, mostly because I'm anti-Western... even outer space Westerns... but after a couple more episodes I too was hooked. Before that I had never heard of it, which seems like a shame. I'm still convinced that it was the Westernness of it all that did it in.

Dear diary, today I was pompous and my sister was crazy.

Today we got kidnapped by hill people, never to be seen again. It was the best day ever!

River Tam is probably my personal favorite of the gang, along with Shepherd Book.

Jayne is the least favorite. He's the "Joey" of Firefly, I don't really get what people find interesting/funny about the character.

This makes me feel so much better about my current obsession! I'm encouraging my hubby to go out with the guys so I can watch Serenity tonight (after kids are in bed) uninterrupted. He asks too many damn questions and has not seen the series. I console myself in that Castle probably would not exist if Firefly had lived. If it had really been given the chance, and Joss Whedon the creative freedom he deserved, it would probably still be on. Never thought I would be this involve in a sci-fi western. On paper it had to look totally crazy, but in execution....ahhhhh. Such frustration!

I love the one where Simon is in a standoff on the ship and Mal walks in, shoots the fed, and throws him off the ship like there's nothing to it. Never breaks stride--total badass. Funny as hell too.

And for the record, they are all super-hot (well, not the shepherd, but you know)

I was putting together a care package for my son, who is on a 10 week bus tour. . .at the very last minute I threw in our DVD copy of Firefly (the bus has DVD players). The following week I got a phone call that I was the hero of the bus tour, and the new favorite parent. The following day, in the parents group on facebook, one of the moms posted that she was so thrilled that her son finally got to see Fireflyl!

I <3 being the cool mom!

Definitely one of my favorite shows. I think it's time for a re-watch. We didn't see it when it came out--caught some re-runs & then bought the dvds. It is just shocking that they cancelled it  .

i made the mistake of seeing the movie before the series.
