Fasted CardiošŸ‹ļøā€ā™‚ļø

So, what exactly is it? First we must break down what the term ā€œfastedā€ actually means. By now we should at least have an idea of whatā€™s considered cardio. But when you add the term ā€œfastedā€ next to it, well now the term cardio, isnā€™t so simple.

In the world of health and fitness, ā€œfastedā€, especially when added to words like, training, or cardio, simply means to exercise while in a fasted state. Fasted meaning on an empty stomach, or when youā€™ve at least went without a meal for up to 8,10, and 12 hours or more.

Fasting simply puts your body in a state where it will tend to break down fats to utilize for energy more rapidly. It increases the rate at which fats may oxidize, thus enhancing our bodies ability to burns fats faster.

Below are just a few more ways that we can benefit from fasted cardio, or fasted training.ā¬‡ļø

Burn Fat and Enhance Fat Loss šŸ”„

Various research has shown that fasted training in general has the ability to positively impact how we lose stubborn belly fat, and fat in other areas. Areas such as the abs, hips, lower back, butt, and thighs.

Supplement EnhancementšŸ‘Š

There are many supplements on the market now days to help with weight-loss, and enhance our abilities to burn fat. When you consider incorporating fasted training into your routines, this may significantly improve or at minimum enhance how the body responds to the supplements.

Endurance and Training AdaptationsšŸš“ā€ā™‚ļø

When it comes to our endurance, certain training methods will increase our stamina, while others will increase our muscle endurance. Depending how you push the body while in a fasted state, you will be crossing your natural threshold, possibly to overcome it when training certain muscle groups moving forward.

I partake in fasted cardio often, simply because I will puke if I have food in my stomach (it's not pretty lol).

What's the data supporting your claims? Do you have any studies, articles or research to reference?

Shifting the percentage of substrate utilization during exercise, whether by fasted cardio or other means, does not enhance loss of stored body fat. Studies that compare a higher ā€œfat burningā€ workout with one that burns less fat show that there is no difference in 24 oxidation (Melanson et al, 2009).

Comparison over time of groups exercising ā€œfastedā€ vs ā€œnon fastedā€ in a hypocaloric environment show no differences in weight loss or body composition. (https://jissn.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12970-014-0054-7)

The only potential benefit of doing endurance cardio in a fasted state is to enhance the ability to spare carbohydrates during endurance events.

Discussion of ā€œfasted cardioā€ should not conflate the preference for comfort by exercising on an empty stomach with the inaccurate physiological claims of benefits for enhanced loss of body fat.

It's garbage regardless of where it was plagiarized from. :D

It won't help you lose weight any faster but it'll get you out the door faster. I skip breakfast on weekends to go hike or bike when an early start is important.

Anything with the phrase "stubborn belly fat"...

That plus the entire first few paragraphs about what is or isn't fasted cardio (it's not rocket science people) and the last full 'graph. I'm unimpressed.

That last paragraph actually reads like a botched Google Translate from another language. Itā€™s a whole paragraph which says nothing and makes no sense.
