So I'm not really sure what to write on here. Been on the fitness pal for about 2-3 weeks. Haven't seen much in the way of results but I wasn't taking it very seriously at first. I've just recently started making myself walk and/or ride every night. Hoping that helps with some weight loss. I'm recently 30, a wife, and a mother of 4 boys. I work full-time, go to school full-time, and am working a second job here and there to make ends meet so I have to plan a little better in the meal and exercise departments! Any healthy meal suggestions? And does anyone recommend protein shakes? If so, what brands? I know virtually nothing about them. Thanks for the tips!

Welcome! Weightloss happens over time, when you're in a sustained calorie deficit, and MFP works by calculating how much less you must eat in order to be in a calorie deficit, and how much you must eat in order to sustain being in a deficit. It does not require exercise, but it does require correct food logging. You need a food scale to get it done properly. That is the mandatory part. And like every newbie, you're asking about the parts that are up to you to decide. What to eat and drink, and how, how much and whether to exercise, is your choice. A healthy diet is balanced and varied, and you can eat anything you like in moderation. Trying to follow other people's diets, is doomed to fail. Ultimately, even the decision to stick to the suggested calorie target, or not, is up to you, but of course, then you don't get to decide the outcome.
