How to deal with a binge?

After work I went down to my local watering hole to grab a quick drink and catch up with my friends- I only planned on having one vodka/soda, but before you know it I had three AND a sandwich AND a quesadilla! I'm obviously paying for it now (I don't have any understanding how I'm this deeply hungover after three drinks...) but do I just keep going like nothing happened or try burning all the excess with exercise? On top of that, how do you mentally deal with a binge? Like, I KNOW it's fine- I'm picking up the pieces, but I'm still mad at myself. How do you train your brain to realize it's a lifestyle?

Maybe relax a little and think about what constitutes a binge, and then things will fall into place.
Don't try to "burn it off", if it's going to be a lifestyle, you have stop being mad at yourself for living.4 -
Thats not a binge, you just over ate a little because you had a couple of drinks with friends.
Drink a pint of water, go back to your deficit tomorrow.
Its no big deal4 -
Log it and move on. In three weeks you will realize that one night isn't going to have significant long term effects. Just like when you're sick and can't eat for a day, you aren't suddenly 20lbs lighter. It's consistent patterns of behaviour over time.
If this is something you want to do regularly, plan for it. Eat a little lighter during the rest of the week and save those calories for your night out.5 -
Just log it and move on.
I learned I cannot drink alcohol any more if I want to lose weight. The drunk munchies kill my calorie deficit every time!3 -
Dust yourself off and proceed as planned. You may want to drink more water, increases exercise or decrease calories for a few days to compensate, but none of that is necessary.
Remember, it takes 3500 extra calories to gain a pound. 3500. Extra. Calories. One evening of over consumption probably doesn't come close. Do that several times a week and you may have some issues, but a single day is nothing.3 -
Great feedback on binging. I'm still recovering from a birthday in which people who love me brought three cakes/pies and other treats into the house. The temptation was too much for me so I've had a bad week. As @funjen1972 says it takes an extra 3500 calories to gain a pound. That's alot of carrot cake.1

Same! I’m going about this round alcohol free.0
