Restarting the struggle!!!

Hi I have been on this app for quite sometime but started using it 3 days back. So here goes- I have always been overweight. All my life. At 26 years old I got fed up of being overweight and I decided to do something. I was close to 230 pounds then. With sheer hard work and will, I lost close to 70 pounds. I felt great. I fit into everything. I was confident about myself. I got married to my best friend soon after. We didn’t want kids at tht time and just to be doubly sure I started on Birth control pills. And slowly my weight started inching up. I was still gymming regularly and watching my diet. Not like a hawk but I still was. In 28 months that I was on the pill I gained more that 50 pounds. I changed the pill, I got my thyroid tested, I even upped my gymming hours. Nothing worked. And then we decided I would stop. And next month I was pregnant. I gained about 15 pounds in pregnancy. Which was great and then struck post partum depression out of nowhere. For almost 8 months I was crying and then turning to my go to when I am upset- food. Now I feel better but I am almost 240 now and want to regain a control on my life. Gymming is little difficult right now with husband travelling and me having a 1 yet old clingy baby, but I am trying to watch what I eat and hope I can start with baby steps. I am so nervous and scared of starting it again. I am almost 31 now and I don’t want to stay obese anymore. Just looking for to introduce myself here and say Hi to everyone...

Welcome - or welcome back! You don't really have to be scared, weightloss is just about eating a little less, but for real, consistently and for a long time. You maintain your weight the same way. Exercise is good for you, but not a good weightloss tool. It's your comfort eating that keeps you overweight. Watching your diet is useless unless you do it like a hawk. But you're not supposed to struggle, or even do anything that could be regarded as more than a concerted effort - if you feel it's hard work, and you're relying solely on willpower, you're doing it wrong. So use your food diary, and a food scale. Prelog a whole day or the parts of your day that are decided in advance. Don't leave anything out. Aim to hit your calorie target every day. You don't have to do anything else.3

This is it. Man I hate that there is so much white noise out there that people approach losing weight with trepidation, like it's going to be some insurmountable thing that will take part of their soul in payment. I don't blame anyone who starts out thinking that way, that's what's being pushed around out there. It's far more simple than most people think.
Set the goal > plan the day > weigh the food > eat the food. Rinse and repeat till you're at your goal. Above all, give yourself time to reach that goal, however long you need.
