Explanation for this?

I have noticed a strange thing with my weight. When I workout 5 days a week with Jillian, I tend to GAIN at least 5 lbs and it stays that way. Last week I didn't exercise with Jillian (hubby had his vacation week) but kept active in other activities (gardening and walking, etc...) and LOST those 5 lbs! I've notice this happens every time I take a week here and there off. On my off week, I lose weight. Not that I'm complaining... lol... but I do get annoyed when I get back into circuit training and it comes back!

You make no mention of diet, so taking this completely at face value...

My guess would be water retention from the exercise. As you stress muscles, they hold additional water as they repair themselves. When you stop working out, the muscles are no longer stressed and don't hold additional water.

    Exercise water retention. Normal.

I'd guess that you're either retaining water from exercise or you're losing weight the weeks you do not exercise because your exercise is making your weight loss deficit too large. When you do Jillian's work out are you tracking and eating your calories back?

Thanks, everyone. I don't track food on a regular basis but when I have, I do eat it back.
