Well, i sincerely started logging into MFP and working out hard since past 6 weeks. The results are showing in the way my jeans and other clothes fit. However, i do not have a weighing scale, so cannot really tell about my progress in terms of weight loss ( which is my primary goal). My question is should i rely on my clothes telling me my progress or invest in a weighing scale., And, since we r on the topic, can anyone suggest a reliable scale which is not too expensive.

I personally prefer to rely on clothing instead of a scale. Clothing will show inches lost which a scale will not. A scale can be discouraging as you can do everything right but gain weight. A scale doesn't show true fat loss.

I would continue to rely on clothing and maybe get a cheap pair of calipers to measure body fat %.

If you do want a scale get any that you like and fits into your budget. Don't spend more on the scales that measure body fat % since they are normally very wrong. If you get a scale make sure you have a spot to put it and leave it there. Pick a spot that is on a flat, hard, level surface (do not place on carpet, between tiles, etc) and ensure that spot is in a place where it won't need to be moved constantly or where it will get bumped, kicked, things dropped on it, etc.

I think weigh loss is a completely personal experience. Do what works for you and motivates you. For me, I need constant feedback that I'm doing well. So, I weigh myself once a week at the gym, I measure myself with the tape measure as often as I'd like, I use my clothes, and I take pictures monthly. There have been times where there is no change in my measurements, but I lose weight on the scale; likewise, there have been times where the scale hasn't budged for a couple weeks, but my measurements have decreased. It helps me stay positive.
