Moving there soon, and have no knowledge of the city, neighborhoods, where to live, etc. Anyone have some advice to share?

You're going to love it there !!

You like freezing rain, snow, sleet, gray sky, rust and rivers that catch on fire, right?

    Don't park by the lake.

I live about an hour west of Cleveland. Spring, Summer and fall are great, winter sucks. Find a winter activity you enjoy - hiking, snow shoeing, skiing, making giant snow sculptures, or drinking excessively are all common.

I suggest living in the burbs instead of the city, but that's me. Close to the lake and beach are ideal.

To me, that's an excuse for a snow day or two off of work.

Text that photo to your boss, what could they say?

Then you can't go to work. Its an excellent opportunity for excessive drinking.

A close friend lived in Strongsville. I'd visit 3-4 times a year for several days. Really enjoyed time spent there. We would often go into Cleveland for entertainment venues, restaurants, etc. At least every couple of years we'd revisit the Rock & Roll Museum, the Science Museum, the West Side Market, other museums, Little Italy, and much more. If good weather, we'd take a walk in the MetroPark. One fun thing was going to a pinball parlor. I've always loved pinball and we don't have around where I live so enjoyed going there a lot. We also went to the Cleveland Flea Market which gave us a good walk and allowed a bit of nostalgia; "my Mom had one of these". LOL We did a boat trip on The Flats that included dinner. Of Course, we always went to at least 1 Indians game in the summer.

I think that's what I enjoyed most -- there was always a lot to do and a fantastic variety from which to choose. We were never bored!!

West and East Cleveland both have notable and decent areas... but East Cleveland is known for being shadier. All depends on the burb. Don't live downtown unless you want to spend $1,200/month on a studio apartment and enjoy the smell of rotting animal flesh on a daily basis. And schedule your vacations for the winter.

Beachwood's close to me. Nice areas around here. They're working class, no frills... but they're clean, polite, and quiet.

Thanks to all for the replies. Plan on bouncing between hotels/neighborhoods when I first arrive. And last night, I was looking online in the Beachwood area, and Crocker Park. Friends have also suggested I look in Ohio City and Tremont.

I'm at that point now where the move is a mix of adventure and "let's go try this place for a while", and "oh no, what have I committed to".

Okay, it's been a few months, and it's freezing. Someone at work told me that I won't see the sun again until April.

Do guys wear those big puffer coats, too? Because this cold is bullsh*t. :)
