Hi there maintainers!
Today I finally hit my goal weight of 120 lbs (i'm 5'4 and female!) , when I began this journey I was 144.4! It took me exactly 3 months, so that would be roughly 2 lbs per week loss, but I lost most of my weight very quickly in the beginning and then it slowed down drastically towards the end. I've learned so many amazing things on this journey... my body needs way more protein than I thought to function, I learned how to cook my meals and plan, and I learned to love running. My journey started when I brought home my puppy, who grew up to be a pretty big powerful dog that needed lots of exercise! He motivated me in the beginning to walk every day, twice a day for an hour each walk. Last fall we also did a lot of hiking and rollerblading which I am really looking forward to again! After walking for a while and dropping the first few pounds it became easier so we started going for jogs every morning, we had such a great time. Sadly, today we took our last run together this morning, a short 3 miler. Our vet called this morning and apparently he is very sick and shouldn't be running or playing ball anymore for a while, he will most likely need surgery for his issue and it will be a long road of recovery for him. Just as I reached my goal today. Life is funny like that sometimes. So one chapter of my life ends and another begins.... I hope that I can continue the progress I have made so far, and to stay determined to run every day even without my running buddy who has pushed me this far every day. I've decided to sign up for a half marathon in October and a full marathon in January, I am so nervous but more than anything excited! I'm still going to walk my pup in the mornings and make sure he gets all the love and attention he needs, but ironically my husband has decided he wants to run with me in the evenings. I am so excited he is getting involved now too! I'm going to keep logging for a while, I know there are some nutrition things I could work on like making sure I keep getting enough protein, and eating more fruits and veggies. I hope to learn more along this part of the journey and meet some long time maintainers to learn how you've done it!
Thanks and nice to meet you all! :)

Congrats and let your "new norm" begin.

For me what worked was to still log and increase calories about 100 at a time to ensure "accuracy". Once I found what works for me I put my mind at ease of gaining too much once I switched to maintenance. My brain was so used to being in loss mode that the adjustment was a little challenging.

I check in with myself occasionally (perhaps more than I used to) to ensure I was within a 5-8lb range. That way I can catch myself if I go too far in either direction.
