Just need to rant.

I want sure which forum to put it in and I don't really need motivation. I'm putting it here though because I need y'all to super my right to rant!

Today I was feeling pretty good about myself because I hit the 30 pounds lost. However I have been having a lot of negative self talk recently so I want letting myself get too excited. To celebrate and to help get rid of the negative I decided to exercise. Seeing as it's laundry day, I had to do into clothes I don't normally wear. However, I figured that since I am down 30 friggin pounds, I should try on those 2X loose fit shirts because theoretically they should for me now.

I'm sorry the picture isn't great. Now, I know that I'm not a tiny girl, but at most retailers in my area 2X is the largest size you can get and it can be hard to find. So when I find it and it's loose for I try and grab it. I felt like a stuffed sausage. How is it that the women who it society says need to work out the most, can't find workout clothes that fit or for will, let alone be cute? I usually end up buying men's tops because they are bigger and usually cheaper. Just once though I want to wear a top that looks good on me, not makes me look like a wall. At this point, I need to lose another 15-20 pounds just to for into most of my workout clothes.

And if the pink tax weren't bad enough, I have to go to Lane Bryant to find anything that fits and looks good, which means my clothes usually end up costing more than regular women's clothes. I know, more cloth means more cost. However, I can go to Target and get a men's workout shirt, with arguably more fabric because it's not cut in at the sides, for a fraction of the price. I just want to workout. I don't need my clothes making me more self confidence than I already am.

Ps- My NSV is posting that picture. I still have 117 pounds to lose. I'm an working on carrying less about what others think about my body because I'm proud of what my body can do.

I say wear the men's t-shirts!! My favorite t-shirts are the ones I stole from my husband  Congrats on your progress so far - keep up the good work! Those cute workout clothes will fit soon. I think the one you're wearing in your pic looks perfectly fine.

My mom and I used to steal shirts from my brother. Man he would be ticked! I still buy men's shirts often as I just like the cut of them. Just finished my workout in one actually.

And, I sleep in my husband's shirts as they're soft and comfy and come to my knees. :D

Sizes like that are relative - L is always smaller than XL etc - but will vary across time, countries, brands, and even models. If you want exact sizes, you need to look for those based on inches - an inch is an inch, pretty much, at least for any practical purposes.

Oh the rant I could have about shopping (which I loathe in all forms) and women's clothing...

Unfortunately, it would be a wall of "kittens."

So, I'll just say, you've done wonderfully. Congrats on the loss so far and wear what you can, men's clothing included, and keep on keeping on!

I haven't really bought workout clothes. I walk or exercise at home.
I did just buy men's shoes because the selection of athletic type shoes in the women's section of 2 stores in my size and price range was so poor.

I buy men's clothes all the time. They're generally cheaper and better made than women's clothes, and so much easier to find in larger sizes.

One of my frustrations is that I'm slighter taller than the average full-figured female bear, and clothes in larger sizes all seem to be made for petite women. Is there some law that says that no one over a size 18 is allowed to be more than 5'4"??? There also seems to be a law that says your hips must be at least 1.75 times your bust measurement, and god forbid you should have a waist!

The result is $$$ blouses that fit me like a midriff-skimming circus tent, complete with little pouffettes where they're too narrow to ride my shoulders properly. (At least it's easy for me to find capri pants - that's every pair of pants that I try on!)

I might as well buy a men's shirt in an appropriate chest size. It'll be a little loose in the shoulders, and I sometimes alter the side vents to give me a little freedom in the hips measurement. (Waist? - Schmaist. I figure it's a lost cause either way.)

What I really like is to buy high-end men's dress shirts in extra-tall (on sale, of course), roll the cuffs up, and rock them as tunics. :)

Thanks y'all. I do but the men's stuff and it looks like that is going to continue. I just wish this weren't so BS. Bigger women want to look cute. Humans comes in different shapes and sizes. If men get real measurements, women should too.

I still feel good about my success. I, luckily, found a gym where everyone is super helpful and supportive and I don't really feel self conscious there. I even take a class with the owner who, if you didn't know him, looks like he could be a rude meat head. He was so inclusive and helpful during class and then answered my questions seriously after class. I'm there to work out so I don't really care if I look good for anyone else, it's mostly for me. The issue with the short is that it's just a little too tight to move comfortable in which I need to be able to do, especially for my martial arts classes. I'm pretty ok in general with men's workout clothes, but I just really wanted to wear my cute new workout outfit! 😁😂

    Thanks again y'all.
