I got screamed at (in public today) and I kinda liked it...

I got SCREAMED AT, in public today, about my permanent weight change/blastification (I like that better than weight "loss")...but it's "all good" as they say. It was a bit embarrassing, but so what, I can handle that type of embarrassment any day of the week. Today, I ran into an old friend, which I haven't seen in almost a year or so in the grocery store. As I was passing her cart, I said "hey girl...long time no see--how are you and the family doing?" and she gave me a double-take, squinted her eyes and then literally screamed (really loudly) OMG--OMG--OMG (not the letters o.m.g, she literally kept saying really loudly "OH MY God" over and over again!!!!!! She said "if I hadn't recognized/heard your voice, I would NOT have known that was you AT ALL--"you look so completely different and you look so good, so beautiful and so young". Then she SCREAMED really loud to me again,(again, we're in the grocery store, around a LOT of people)--YOU LOOK SOOOOOO GOOD--YOU LOOK LIKE A 20 or 30 YEAR OLD!(uhhh, I'm a senior citizen ) Now this is a very conservative, mild mannered woman and quiet woman, what she did is totally unlike her at all. She was just sooo pleasantly surprised, so happy for me and so utterly SHOCKED (outta her mind) to see me this size.
Again, it was TOTALLY unexpected and embarrassing, but truth be told, I kinda liked it a bit-- I told her I was down almost 60lbs since the last time she saw me and was looking to forever destroy/blast completely away and rid my body of maybe 20lbs more to get into a size 10--that I'm a size 14 now (from a 22w--that's what size I was the last time she saw me), and she said I look so good, I looked like a size 10 NOW (I told her I can shimmy outta my 14's without unbuttoning/unzipping them and I'm on my way to a size 12, I can feel it) and she hugged me really tight and kept saying over and over how good, beautiful and young I looked, she was so extra happy & excited for me and again shocked and she asked what was my secret?
I told her I eat whatever I want to, just much smaller portions and less frequently daily--that's all--CICO. She was so happy for me and as I walked outta that store, and as I was walking back home from that grocery store I felt like I just conquered Goliath (obesity) and was carrying Goliath's head in my bag (NEVER going back to that scary giant FAT place ever again for the rest of my life) or something powerful like that.
Nothing like that has EVER happened to me before ...getting SCREAMED at, in public...
YIKES and WOW and BOOM!

Thank you so much to EVERYONE of you who replied...y'all ROCK, period.
This has been such a loooonnnggg and trying battle for me (it's taken me 6+ YEARS to forever banish these unhealthy, unattractive, burdensome pounds/ounces/inches of fat/flab/yuck from outta/off of my MIND and BODY). I've never rid myself of these many pounds in my life. I'm down 58.6lbs from my highest weight ever (219.8) to currently I'm 161.2lbs. I'm very near to my goal (so-called high side of the healthy/average BMI of 154lbs). From there, we'll see--I'd like to get down to a size 10, which would be around 140-145lbs or so (I'm not sure about that, when I was 140-145 YEARS & YEARS ago, that was a size 10 for me back then)--that will be my next goal, once I reach my goal of 154lbs...maybe that will get me to a size 10, that would be tremendous, we'll see what size 154lbs will be for me).
Even though I tried and failed soooo many times over the years to "get down to size", I so wouldn't trade ANY of those troublesome years of fret and woe of trying & failing again and again for anything in the world. I am so GRATEFUL for the life lessons I am/have learned in this "battle", which has truly humbled me (big time) and is/has spilled over to enrich and help me so much in ever area of my life.

Ah this made me laugh/cry when I was in a really bad mood. Thanks for sharing!
My best NSV was when a server told me she couldn't find me to pay my tab because I didn't look anything like my ID (I also lost 60 lbs). When they figured out who I was by process of elimination she literally said "what?! The hot chick?"4 -

{{{{{{{{ Hugs and High Fives }}}}}}}}}} I LOVE this reply, so much--mega congrats on 60 big ol pounds forever banished from outta/off of your body, you "Hot Chick" winner you! BOOM!1 -
LOVE this! That takes a lot of hard work and determination. I'm just getting started myself, and would love to have a moment like this someday. Nice work!!1

This post makes me SO HAPPY!! What a great feeling it must have been to A) Have someone completely flip out over your weight loss Know that all your hard work is noticeable and C) Know that you have such fantastic friends that they react with such happiness and joy over your accomplishments rather than being petty and jealous.3

Thanks so much for your reply! You can and will do this for sure, it's going to take some time (depending on how much you have to lose and hopefully NOT 6+ years , but slow and steady wins the race FOR SURE. Here's cheering you on! Let me also say one of the reasons it took me sooooo long, was I was constantly trying and failing so many different "gimmicky/fad" type of things to lose and lose FAST...and that's what happened I "LOST" some weight over the 6+ years of "trying" (the max I lost over these years was about 20-25lbs or so, but because of the "unsustainability" of the gimmicky/fad-ish "diets" I tried over these years, I gained/FOUND ALL of the weight I "LOSS" plus about 20 or so MORE/ADDITIONAL pounds. Using fads/gimmicks for FASTER weight-loss really messed me up and again, cause me to gain so much more than I started with. Also, what these "fad" diets did for me was have me fluctuate (lose and gain the same 10lbs over and over for years--UGH and YUCK) If you stick to CICO, don't restrict what you love, just eat "less" of it more thru out the day or a lot of what you love, but just fewer times per day of eating whatever you want) and take your time with seeing results/don't use gimmicks/fads to RUSH your results, you WILL succeed and maintain your success, for sure.
ETA: Everyone is different and I'm sure gimmicks and fad diets have worked tremendously for people and even "my way" of eating whatever I want to eat (refusing to restrict anything), just eating much smaller portions of whatever I want thru-out the day and/or larger portions of food(again, whatever I want), just eating less frequently thru-out the day (of larger portions of food) may not work for some. Also, refusing to "rush/fuss/muss/stress" and being patient and embracing the process has seen consistent and steady weekly weight-loss to get to this place of YES and YAY for me. Again, everyone is different, but what I learned over all these years is CICO will/does work, no matter the method.mom23mangos wrote: »This post makes me SO HAPPY!! What an encouragement your reply to me is, just super terrific--thank you ever so much for taking the time to reply. Absolutely--I utterly agree with you 100% ( even though it DID kinda embarrassed me a bit, as it was TOTALLY unexpected and yet (pleasantly) SURPRISING to/for me, but also it was FUN too--especially thinking about it on the walk back home ) and I also absolutely LOVE the way you phrased it "FREED from the WEIGHT". I'm totally adopting that phrase/way of thinking about it. Thank you so much for your inspirational reply!
