Wat happens if u don’t eat your exercise calories?

Let’s say u eat around 1400 cals per day to lose weight and u burn 120 cals from workout per day and u chose not eat back those exercise calories. Wat would happen?

Nothing you would just carry on losing weight.. probably faster. Personally I would only eat them back if I'm actually hungry, not just for the sake of it14

Thank u for the reply! Sometimes I don’t want to eat it back. I feel like it doesn’t make sense to eat it back. I’m 59kg and my goal is 54-55kg. The rate I chose to lose was 0.2/kg per week. Do u think this rate is too slow? This gave me a net goal of 1400 cals per day and all the other rates gave me a net goal of 1200 cals per day.

I think if losing weight at a slower rate will mean you feel satisfied with the amount you eat then it's worth it, but if you have days where you eat 1200 and lose faster then I dont see the harm. My weight is similar to yours and I usually switch between 1200 and 1400. Dont worry too much about the exercise because the amount of cals burned in a work out is never accurate. Many people might disagree with me about exercise cals by the way but I dont recommend forcing yourself to eat them back. Good luck 😀3

given that you are only burning an extra 100 cals it isn't necessarily a big deal if you don't eat them back. however, MFP is designed so that you should, as your deficit is already calculated before you do any exercise.
with only a few pounds to lose, you'll want to keep to a small deficit to help retain muscle, and it makes the transition easier when you get to maintenance.
look at your weekly goal, you don't have to eat back exercise cals the same day that you burn them.7 -

If you’re burning a lot of exercise calories and don’t eat any of them back, then odds are you aren’t giving your body enough fuel for your workouts. Eventually you’re going to notice negative effects from that, such as feeling tired or dizzy.
Whether or not 120 is a large number of exercise calories for you depends on your body and the size of the deficit you already have without exercise.6 -

This is kind of hard to answer. In theory, yes. I strongly suggest getting a food scale and weighing all of your solid food to cut down on logging errors. Your daily deficit is about 250 calories and that can easily be erased by logging errors.
After about 6 weeks you may also need to adjust your calories up or down if you are losing slower or faster than expected.

Losing weight too fast is a bad, unhealthy plan. What "too fast" means varies by person and situation. A couple rules of thumb are to avoid losing more than 1% of current body weight per week (unless under close medical supervision), and perhaps to slow it even further when within 25-50 pounds of ultimate goal weight. For sure, with 10 pounds or less to lose, 0.5 pounds a week would be the highest sensible target for most people.
What combination of eating and exercise is involved in this can vary, as long as one is getting adequate nutrition for one's body size.2 -
One day isn't going to matter. Our bodies are biological systems with a tremendous degree of evolution to keep you alive and well. Doing this over weeks/months will likely have a negative outcome and will drive an undesired feedback stimulus. Note this is one of the root causes of yo-yo dieting from elimination and highly restrictive diet plans.
Your focus isn't so much on weight, but on bodyfat reduction. You want to preserve muscle mass during this time, so don't try and rush a short term gain and suffer long term. Take the time to learn what a "normal" caloric intake feels like for you.4 -

Agreed! You’d loose weight faster. 1400 calories a day is really low. To reach my weight goal I’m eating 1480 I currently weigh 52 and I want to weigh 49. I’m finding this calorie intake more challenging than I thought I would!

That’s great! I wish you the very best... mfp gave me a net goal of 1400 cals to lose 0.2/kg per week. So that’s too low? I weigh 59kg and my goal is 54-55kg.
