not seeing results at scale, how often to weigh in?

I usually weigh in weekly on Mondays. Im now considering weighing only once a month. Im such a numbers person (accountant).

Ive been doing well with eating and exercising but see the scale either going up or staying put is messing with my mind. Ive recently started lifting weights and I can tell Im starting to get some toning going on where there was none before.

Anyone else do this and only weigh once a month? I know scale weight isnt the only indicator of success but I admit Im bound to it after so many years of dieting. Im afraid that not seeing the numbers decrease is going to end up ruining my efforts or make me do some stupid dieting tricks to make it move. Any advice is appreciated.

  • I see what you are saying, but if you only weigh once a month, you may get a higher number that day bc you happen to be bloated or constipated or whatever. My weight fluctuates a lot, so I weigh daily each morning, then take the average for the week.

Idk if that would make you obsess more, but for me, it helps, bc those individual numbers don't mean as much.
  • Also, it takes an average man lifting heavy for six weeks to gain one pound of muscle, so your gains are not likely from muscle :(

I don't weigh weekly. I weigh every couple of weeks to a month. I don't need to see the daily fluctuations. As long as I trust the process and log as accurately as possible, it does go down. Seeing the daily changes drives me up the wall.
