Polar FT7 malfunction

I have a Polar FT7. About a month ago, I had to replace the watch battery. About a week ago, I replaced the wear link battery because it wasn't reading at all. Now, after a week, the readings of my heart rate will be good for ten minutes and the quite reading all together. Very annoying when I am training for a 5k. I have the strap on as tight as I can get it with out breaking it. I put it on wet. I am just getting frustrated because instead of concentrating on my training I am constantly worrying about the readings and what not. If this is going to keep going, I may have to buy something new. Anyone recommend something I can try before I give up and buy a new hrm?

Hm, a few thoughts...
You may actually have it on too tight. I've tightened mine before thinking that's what it needed but it usually backfires if it's too tight.
Are you washing it regularly and rinsing it off after you us it?
Make sure the transmitter is snapped on tight and in the center of your chest.
That's all I got...hope it helps!0
