Took my before pictures...ugh

I have never been so embarrassed to take before pictures as I was today. I’ve made a plan and I intend on sticking to it. 60 days. Split into two groups where I will take progress pics after 4 weeks. I’m so embarrassed I was like *kitten* I need to get it together.

Anyone else ever do this and truly realize how big you got? I’m so hesitant on posting them here, or anywhere for that matter right now.

I was glad I had a "before" picture, because it made the progress photos and "after" pictures look pretty good. But I didn't post any pictures here until I was very close to my goal weight. I did go through a period of time where I thought, Oh my God, what a loser... but you really have to look at it as a mere starting point, not a reason to beat yourself up. I used that "before" picture as a motivator. It's very counterproductive to begin your new start at fitness to feel unworthy or ugly. You're not! Two months from now, I am sure you will feel pretty good that you made progress by being disciplined! Good luck!

You don't have to post them anywhere unless you want to (I don't), but you don't need to be embarrassed either. Being big isn't something to be ashamed of, it's just a state of being. All it means is that you ate more than it takes to maintain your preferred weight. It doesn't mean you're bad or don't have worth, It doesn't mean you're defective or any negative attributes you choose to attach to it.

Not liking the way you look when you're big is one thing, that can be changed easily by losing the extra weight, attaching negative thoughts about yourself to it is an entirely different thing that won't do you much good. Please don't let this push you into "self punishment" mode where you do whatever it takes to lose as much as possible as fast as possible.

I regret not taking before pictures. I was probably embarrassed, too, and I think I wasn't sure I'd be successful with weight loss and didn't want to jinx it or something. I only have a couple of photos from the holidays and work events. It's great that you took them, and you'll be glad you took them when you can put it next to an updated picture!

You don't have to post them. You can keep them to yourself for your own information. You might not even want to post them right away. Maybe somewhere down the line, after your success, you'll want to share. Maybe not. But don't feel like you have to post them now...or ever, if you aren't feeling it. But you WILL want to look back at those pics some day for comparison, so it's good that you're taking them. Good luck! <3

I did save them in a before album on my phone...I will keep them and look back on it.

It’s not so much negatively thinking about myself it’s moreso how did and I get here and I can’t stay here, I won’t stay here.

    Thanks for the love guys!!

Good for you for taking one! Believe me, you will be glad you did. I hated taking mine and never showed it to anyone. Now I am so proud to have it as a side by side with my current picture. I encourage all newbies to take a before picture.

Yes, take before pics! I took them looking my best and also just wearing my workout clothes. I take pics after every 10 lb loss and it's great to have them to go back to. Someday, when I reach my goal I will be excited to show a before and after in the success page. :)
