I have lost 191 pounds on the Keto diet since December 9, 2017. I exercise minimally, but I am very strict with my calories and pay close attention to my macros provided to me by a healthcare professional. I’m inching up on 200 pounds lost, but I have found that I’m recently struggling to find the same kind of success that I have found throughout this program. Is this because I have too much excess skin? Will it be relatively impossible to get down to my goal weight (185) because of this? I’m spinning at this point, and I do not wanna let the stress overcome me. Is exercising gonna pack muscle and increase weight, or will it be the final push needed to get down to 185? I participate in intermittent fasting, normally a four hour eating window, and I intake about 1,000-1,200 calories a day. I’m operating in a deficit continuously, and it makes me struggle to understand how the weight still isn’t dropping. I have a rather strenuous job where I sweat for damn near 9 hours a day and that’s with breaks already subtracted, so I’m not looking to start some extreme workout when I spend 6 days a week burning calories at work. This basically all wraps back around to the excess skin point. Am I forever going to be stuck at 216 until I pay the outrageous amount for skin removal surgery? If anyone could help I would appreciate it. If anyone needs some help or motivation with keto or intermittent fasting feel free to ask. Thank you.

Have you taken a diet break at all during that time? You've been in a very steep calorie deficit, and over time that's going to screw up your hormones.

I might definitely have to give that a shot. I have been so dedicated and focused on this diet that I really do not want to stray, but if straying will help me get these last few pounds off then it may just be what I have to do. Just scares me. I have done right since last December, and I don’t want a diet break to be the thing that makes me feel like I failed this program. I love Keto and I do not intend on ever straying from it in the long run. I feel great, look great, and it has been the most manageable food program I have ever done. As I hit my weight loss goal I’ll just adjust my carbs and calories higher, but I certainly plan on never returning to a lot of those high carb foods of times past. Breads, rice, items loaded with sugar, etc. are very much a thing of the past for me and I intend on keeping them there! Thank you for all the advice. I’ll have to figure out the smartest way to go about this “break” without entirely ruining what I have worked so hard for, and/or feeling as if though I had to eat a pint of ice cream just to realign myself.

When I did it I just increased my calories to maintenance level. I only did it for a week but probably should have done 2 weeks. I had been in a stall for 3 months. In the end I gained a couple of pounds then my weight started dropping again. I needed the break. I felt I was not overeating before the break but whether I had a water issue or if I was eating more than I thought I don't know but I can tell you the break was worth it.
