Where would you put my activity level for TDEE??

So I work at a desk 8 hours a day. I get up for bathroom breaks etc or deliver files or whatever but not a ton of walking. After work I am doing the 30 day shred. Planning on taking a break from the shred over the weekend and maybe just walk or hike or maybe even do nothing at all and just having a real rest day. Not sure what activity level I should choose for my TDEE? Suggestions?

  • I'd put your activity level as sedentry, then log your exercises seperately. That's the most accurate way, that way if you miss a day of the shred or whatever, you can account for it! :)

    That's what I do. Totally agree. :)

I agree with sedentary and adding exercise calories back. You will get the most accurate idea of how many calories you burn doing 30DS if you have a heart rate monitor, but you can find some on line estimators for your specific weight.

That is actually what I was doing! And switched to TDEE because I thought it would be simpler. I'm not exactly sure how many cals I'm burning doing the shred. I have a bluetooth HRM and I was using MapMyFitness to log the workouts. Under "other workout video" it said I burned 125 cals and doing the exact same workout under "circuit training:cardio" it said I burned 282! So something is definitely screwed up and I think it's calculating my calories based on the workout chosen and I'm pretty sure my heart rate has nothing to do with it!

For TDEE, I'd say probably 1.3 activity multiplier from your BMR

Reduce guess work by using this for calculating TDEE
