"We started 2 days ago" and "I told him to eat more protein so he's been eating more eggs" - this gave me whiplash. Hunger is going to be a thing sometimes, in a deficit, he's gonna have to figure out over time what foods satisfy him and stay within his goals. It might be protein, it might be fat, it might be carbs, hey maybe it's broccoli. But it takes time.7

Definitely examine your weekly weight loss goal (I know you're asking for him, but everyone should do this). Most people come here and think, "Oh- 2 lbs a week! Let's do that!", when really 2 lbs a week is only for those who are quite obese. If your profile pic is accurate, neither one of you appear to have 75+ lbs to lose. The key to successful weight loss is sustainability, so it's important to find a deficit that a person can live with for a long time. Also make sure your activity setting is accurate and that you log any purposeful exercise and eat back a portion of those calories.6
