In 2015-2016 I went from 250lbs to 170lbs, in 2017 I went on an all out binge, which I am currently trying to stop. I am now at 275lbs and very upset and motivated to lose weight quickly! How long did it take to you all to lose weight?

I hear ya and am in exact same boat..even similar stats and it also took me a year and two months last time to drop that weight but I worked very hard and exercised tons to achieve that. I’m finding it is a bit harder to lose as fast as I did last time as I don’t have the same time to workout but am losing at a steady 2-3lb loss a week and as I’m currently sick..am doing that just by eating within my range. Feel free to add me as a friend..im needing the motivation too - to do more as soon as I can hit the gym so I can keep losing more quickly. Good luck and don’t give up..just start and keep going day after day!2

I've tried multiple times to get back on my diet and I just end up quit after a couple of weeks. I think this time I am ready to keep at it and drop this weight for good! Thank you for the reply and Im sorry that you're sick, I hope you get better soon! 2-3 pounds a week is awesome, keep up the good work girl!!0

I have had the same issues. Got in the best shape of my life since college, lost 20-25lbs (I’m 4’ 11”) and was on a true mission to finally get myself to a place where I was really happy. I loved working out and lifting. I felt fantastic and really enjoyed eating healthier. Then my world came crashing to a halt and I ended up in the OR for spine surgery in my neck. No more running or lifting and I lost a ton of strength in my upper body. I maintained weight for a few months after surgery but after the year progressed, my lack of working out, stressful life situations occurred and crappy eating habits returned. I’m now up to the heaviest that I have been. I feel awful. All of my cute new clothes that I got last fall don’t fit. I’m miserable and I feel like this battle is something that I can’t win. I want to get back to where I was.... getting back into the routine has been tough. It’s all a mental game though... I think that’s the key. Commit to the lifestyle and the rest will be history.... easier said than done though.... best of luck! Here’s to tons of water, chicken and broccoli!0

Oh no, I am so sorry to hear about that! I'm glad to see that you're working back at it though! It really stinks to know that I worked so hard to lose the weight before and gained it all back plus some. But I am glad we are both trying to become healthy again. Good luck on your weight loss journey!0 -
Quick weightloss will set you up for another binge period. You can expect to lose up to 1% of your bodyweight per week if you do everything right all the time.1

The problem with quick weight loss is that it requires you to be at a large calorie deficit and super restrictive. In the long run this typically sets people up for lean body mass loss and binge eating.
You need to work on making sustainable habits that will not only help you lose weight, but will help you be successful in the long run with weight maintenance.
Realistically:
- for fat loss you don’t want to lose more than 1% bodyweight per week on average
- For sustainability
- - - 0.5 lbs per week if less than 25 lbs to lose
- - - 1lb per week if 25-50 lbs to lose
- - - 1.5 lb per week if 50-70lbs to lose
- - - 2 lbs per week if 75+ to lose
***My experience****
I was 260 lbs in Jan 2012 after my first son was born. I crash dieted for 6 months that year before I fell off track. I maintained for a couple months until the holidays hit. I then gained almost all the weight I had lost back.
When I found MyFitnessPal in 2013, I lurked a lot in the forums and read the benefits of taking my time. I learned about a food scale and Fitbit. Invested in both. Fitbit helped me see how my activity outside of exercise impacts how much I can eat. Food scale helps me accurately judge portion sizes so I can fit my favorite foods into my life. By Sept 2013, I was 170 lbs and pregnant with my second.
In 2014, I hit my pre-pregnancy weight 6-7 months after my second was born. I continued to lose another 50 lbs by April 2016.
I have since gained a small amount back (currently 18 lbs heavier than in 2016), because I struggled to keep my calories in check after trying Trinessa Birth Control in 2017.1
