I happened across the documentary "The magic pill" and that made me commit. I don't log or count and lost 18 pounds without effort. Love the way I feel. Lots of videos on YouTube to help you. I started 7/10/18.8

You lose weight by reducing calories. It doesn't matter how or what you eat if you just want to lose weight. If you want to improve your health at the same time, eat smaller portions of starchy carbs at each meal, eat regularly, eat less sugar, have sweets, cookies, fast food, pastries etc in moderation, use healthier fats like olive oil, get fats from foods like avocados and unsalted nuts, eat more vegetables, beans, pulses, whole grains, lean proteins, fruit, lower fat dairy produce, and watch your portion sizes. Log everything you eat and keep within your calorie totals.0

I've done it a few years. I find it quite easy to maintain.

It just turned out Keto was the magic pill for me to avoid starting on Enbrel injections for pain management. Keto was never to lose weight because I had no weight loss goal when I went Keto Oct 2014 at age 63 with fast failing health. However in the first 9-12 months I lost a much needed 50 pounds eating 2500-3000 calories daily. I have maintained that 50 pound loss eating 2500-3000 calories daily the last three years.
I failed on moving to Keto WOE until I realized carbs controlled me instead of the other way around and that is why I finally cold turkey stopped eating foods containing added sugars and any form of any grain. The ability/desire to cut carbs to 50 grams daily is the main reason that keto is not doable for the masses I expect. I was dying and knew it and could not let the kids then 16 watch that knowing they might have the same future health wise.
I see keto like marriage. If done as a test run instead of a life-long commitment both can leave you worse off than before hand.5
