Calorie help

This might be a stupid question, I'm not really sure so sorry in advance!
I've seen a lot of comments saying it's only calories that count during weight loss (for the purpose of this question I'm not talking about exercise which I know is also important) and I've seen people say as long as you don't go over the calories you should have then it doesn't matter where they come from.
So my question is, if for some reason I decided to only eat 1400 calories worth of chocolate in one day and nothing else, that's the same as eating 1400 calories worth of say fruit? Obviously I wouldn't do this I'm just thinking of it hypothetically.
I suppose my main point here is that I take no notice of my macros I just eat what I eat and make sure to stay within my calorie intake.
I'm sorry if this is a really stupid question, I'm not great at this stuff!
Leigh.

For weight, yes.
For compliance, probably not.
For health, no.12 -
Weight loss is all calories in vs calories out. Those calories can come from a bag of chips and chicken mcnuggets, your body won’t know the difference. All it knows is if it’s in a surplus of calories, or a deficit.
That’s why flexible dieting works.
You’ll probably feel extremely sick after eating 1400 calories worth of chocolate which funny enough wouldn’t be THAT much lol. But yeah, you’d lose weight.
I’m pretty sure there’s a Twinkie experiment that covers something similar.5 -
Speaking purely in terms of weight loss, calories are all that matter.
Speaking in terms of general health, energy levels, satiety/adherence, workout performance, body composition, etc., overall nutrition matters a great deal.
Yes, eating 1400 calories of chocolate would be the same as eating 1400 calories of broccoli in terms of weight loss. Neither of those options would be a good idea nutritionally, speaking in the long term.7 -
For weight loss, 1400 calories are 1400 calories and it doesn’t matter what foods they come from.
You are going to feel like kitten the next day if you eat nothing but chocolate (trust me, I’ve done it).
Macros are important for health and satiety, but are not directly important for weight loss.0 -
Calories are the only thing that matters for weight loss. Also, exercise isn't that important for weight loss, it can help create a larger calorie deficit for the day and has heaps of other great benefits but isn't important for weight loss. You can lose weight without exercise.
Most people here watch the calories and don't worry too much about macros, usually, if your eating a balanced diet you'll naturally hit the macro goals anyway.
