Hi all, hoping to get some pro advice.
Im getting married Dec 15 so excercising lots & watching what i eat/drink. Im an average size currently and pretty realistic that my body is not going to change too much in 3 months although im hopeful to see more tone & a general healthier appearance.
In terms of the days leading up to the wedding..i know that muscles hold water...to look more "slim" would you recommend not working out the day before and the day of and drinking lots of water? What do bodybuilders do before they jump on stage? Ive heard of cutting but dont know what that involves..

I'm a 325 pound man. Invite me to your wedding. I'll slap on a wig and come as one of your bridesmaids.
Next to me you'll look thin as a rail.43 -
Haha, i reckon you might steal the show!3

A few days before your wedding you want to eat and drink normally and get lots of sleep. I’ve seen a wedding tanked because the bride fainted. Some slim fast thing and she hadn’t eaten a thing for 24 hours.
How good do you look after a 24 hour flu? You want to avoid that.
Body builders have a spray tan to highlight the muscles. You want to avoid that look too.10 -
Water water Water. Drink tons of water, mostly for your face but also I felt a lot less bloated when I'm properly hydrated.6

Slightly lower carbs and slightly lower sodium than usual for a couple of days before might lead to a little less water weight, but really, you're better off sticking to your regular healthy routine in the preceding days: Get sleep, eat nutritously, get at least some exercise (healthy glow, and all that), drink water and not too much alcohol (not so much of either than you need the restroom part way through the service - so distracting ).
Stress is probably (1) your worst enemy in terms of appearance, and (2) not completely avoidable. Trying to structure yourself into an odd routine on top of everything else that's going on will just add to the stress.
Just do what it takes to be fully present, healthy, and happy. You'll be a beautiful bride.10 -
About a week before the wedding ....
Cut back or stop exercise. This will help you drop any water weight and give you a chance to relax.
Light weights, so you don't go 'flat' and walking are good.
Start eating at maintenance, if you aren't already. This will be helpful for the anxiety, stress, enliven your skin tone (maybe) and enjoying the food at your wedding.
If you have been imbibing minimal alcohol, have a glass of wine or two, your tolerance may be low and we don't want you slipping under the table as you are being toasted.
Have a wonderful day.
Cheers, h.9 -
I was married a little over three years ago and in the best shape of my life at the time. I ate and drank normally and worked out too up until wedding day. I didn't go running the morning of my wedding b/c I didn't want to but other than that I did everything normally. The weeks leading up to it I upped my cardio and made sure all my strength workouts weren't missed. I loved the way I felt and the photos were incredible. My back has never looked so good.

For my wedding I said no to all junk food and exercised (dancing). Drinking water is important for good skin.7

I didn't have time to work out in the week leading up to my wedding so that's something to keep in mind!
Also remember that when your alterations are done if you lose more weight or bulk it could be an expensive fix. My seamstress told me that I had like 3 pounds in either direction but that was it. So maintain it in that last leadup is probably for the best anyway.

Have something to eat that morning I started to faint at my fitting a few weeks ago.1

In the days leading up to your wedding, you should do your best to enjoy the time with your family and friends, and de-stress as you’re able. Even by your first anniversary, you are not going to remember what you weighed on your wedding day, and no healthy behavior that can be done on short notice will have much impact on how you look. However, you will hopefully have happy experiences with important people, which you will remember for the rest of your life.5

Just enjoy that great day in your life. Be happy, be yourself. You look great, you will look even better during your special day. Do not worry - worrying only puts wrinkles on your face.0
