Over night shift

So for the next 6 weeks I am working the overnight shift at work. What's your opinion on how to log? My 1st meal of the day is usually at 1am, but it's not really breakfast ..and my sleep is goofy. I work from 11pm to 7am and then sleep from like 9-12 and then am up until around 5 or six and sleep until 9pm. So I'm kind of all over the place. Anyone else on night shift?

Hi. I do shift work and had the same issue. I read on here someone suggests breaking your day into sections. I now have 3 headings instead of Breakfast, lunch and dinner i now have 00:00-08:00, 08:00-16:00 and 16:00-23:59. Works for me1

No matter what your work hours, the day is still 24 hours long. So pick a time that you can use consistently.
Different times work better or worse for different people. It's very individualized. I have met people who work day shift but who start their food journaling/tracking day at 6 pm because it helps them better manage their nighttime eating. Both those who tend to be evening eaters and the hoarders (those who are afraid they'll 'run out' of calories by dinner so undereat during the day).
My recollection from working graveyard was that it's easy to nibble ones way through the night. So, for me, I'd probably start my day at the beginning of the shift since I know that, for me, it's easiest to manage and stay on track in the earlier parts of my tracking day. But that's just me.1 -
i used to do shift work - my diary is set to blocks of hours - which makes it easier to log for me - since i don't do meals per say1

I was unaware until today that I can cook my food at 7pm tonight and log it for 1am tomorrow. That's more where I've been having the problem, was always a day behind. It just looks like I'm having a salad for breakfast and breakfast for dinner, but that's ok. Thanks for the input..ive been off mfp for a while I am relearning all the diary settings0

Night shift for life...feed off of unsuspecting life stock (I'm kidding). Really, I just practice IF for staying consistent.
Rotating schedules has got to wreak havoc on your rhythms; I don't blame you for being all over the place...try getting a consistent work schedule if possible to make things easier.0 -

I am generally on 1st shift 7am-3pm but we are short people at work so another girl and I who is also on 1st.shift rotate every 6 weeks to nights. So I'm 6 weeks overnights then 6 weeks day shift. Super busy season is coming up at work so I will probably work all of October as I did all of august...worked 29out of 31 days in august. Hoping to be back on 1st shift for good come December or january0
