Fit bit

Fit bit, must have or not so much.
Has the Fit bit really helped you?
Are they worth the money?
I would mostly wear it in the swimming pool, are they really waterproof?

There is a fitbit group, if you do a search, that should be able to help you

For me it’s a must have, but not everyone will feel the same. Some find that they don’t provide any information they didn’t already know and some find that they become obsessive with reaching a certain number of steps a day.

Definitely. I was so Sedentary when I first got my Fitbit that I would see calories subtracted from my MFP goal if I didn’t exercise and exercise just brought me up to even with what MFP thought my Sedentary calorie burn was. I mean I knew I was Sedentary back then, but I didn’t realize just how bad I was.
I use mine to help me adjust how much I eat based on my activity and to help keep me active.

For me it was totally worth the money. I actually upgraded again this year to the Ionic (before Versa was announced).

Depends on the model. Most of the newer models are and can even track the laps you swim in the pool.

I love fooling it. As a drummer every time I push a pedal or hit a drum it registers a step. So after a 3 hr show I can get it up to 25,000 “steps”. I know it doesn’t really count...but it’s fun to see.

    Great investment.
I used to do 2k when I first got mine. 2 years later I push for 10k.

I really like my charge 2, I don't think it motivates me to do more though I just enjoy the stats it throws out.

I never had one when I was losing weight so I definitely wouldn't say it's a necessity. I have one now mostly because I needed to drop my exercise volume...I was riding 80 to 100 miles per week as well as lifting and that made up for a lot of the sitting I do at work...had to drop it to about 40-50 miles per week so I wanted to keep an eye on my steps. I get distracted at work and can easily sit their all day...it helps me because I get a little alert every hour to move a little.

I have the same issue when riding the Harley. Couldn't believe how many steps I had after a day of riding! I gotta take it off now before I ride.

I play poker a lot and have to remove it before I shuffle :D

    Depends on your activities.
I jumped right into the deep end and got the Garmin fenix 5X. I was a skeptic for years regarding trackers in general.
But I swim. And Garmin seems to be the best for that. The vast majority of the other devices aren't even waterproof, let alone being useful for swimming.
Garmin makes devices that are not waterproof also. Many in the Forerunner line are not waterproof.
I also do not sync my Garmin with MFP. I enter only the swimming manually. I prefer to use the lower, more conservative calorie burn from the MFP database.

Hi! I have a fitbit. If you're looking to use one while swimming, the Fitbit Flex 2 is the only truly swim-proof model. They're nice to track progress!
