How mutch to eat due to exercise?

Hi,

I am currently doing the Classic carb cycle from Chris Powells book Choose to Lose More for Life and wanted some views on the following. Just to give you some back group I am a 33 year male, 5' 5" tall, 185lb at around 30.5% BF and I am trying to lose the fat and maintain the muscle.

On a low carb day I eat around 1200 to 1400 cal
On high carb day I eat around 1650 to 1800 cal

Now I do cardio 5/6 times a week and weights 3 times a week.

Currently I am NOT eating my exercsie calories back. And thats because it makes no mention of it in the book, however I see lots of posts about eating your exercsie calories back or at least some. What do you think? Should I eat a bit more? My goal is to get my cardio to 1 hour a day.

I like to use this analogy alot: A car will not go without gas. Your body is the same. Fuel your body for the work you're giving it. Eat the exercise calories. Don't be scared of them.

1400 on low carb diet minus around 500 cals from 1h of exercise is 900... that's a little too low (and by "little too low" I mean WAAAAAY too low) total daily calories for your age active adult male. 1800 minus 500 ... I could buy that, maybe. 1300 cals are not that bad, but 900?

I assume book says in how big calorie deficit you shoul be? If you are allready cutting like lets say 500 cals from food and also burning 500 you are in 1000 cal deficit.

Have you calculated your BMR yet? I found out mine yesterday and got a shock as it is much higher than I had thought. Compare it to your current exercises and kcal limits, ponder whether you are making healthy choices.

your low carb day is pretty low. i'm 5'10 and when i did my low carb cut, i was still getting 2000 calories a day, and dropping almost daily. i'd say try to get your low carb day closer to your high carb day, calories consumed wise. even if your on the low end, 1400 ain't much, you'll be lacking energy big time
