OMG, I Ate A Twinkie Today!

Recently lost a couple extra pounds this past week and I was hungry. Bought a coffee at a QuikStop and was browsing the snack counter when I saw THEM.

Haven't eaten a Twinkie in well over 30 yrs (probably more). Looked at the calorie count which was 260 for the 2 innocent looking cream filled cakes. The chocolate Hostess cupcakes, which also caught my eye, were 320. So, I went with the urge and bought the Twinkies.

Smelled and tasted the same as I remember when I ate them as a child. The cake didn't seem as tender, a little tough actually (maybe it was stale), but the filling gave me the same sugar rush as before. Yum!

A memorable sensory (if not culinary) treat that will have to hold me over for another 30 yrs should I live that long.

LOL!!! ;)

Lol I love Twinkies and the Hostess cupcakes (actually blue bunny's version is better to me) and try to keep them out of the house. I have considered making homemade versions that aren't as bad as the store versions. I haven't had them for years!

Heres how you can up your twinkie game: put some cream and condensed milk together, whip em up, drown the twinkie in it and then eat it. It tastes EPIC!

I've never been a big twinkie person. Little debbie's though, especially the zebra cakes, are to die for.

Try the Hostess cupcake ice cream - that is awesome! The Twinkie and Snoball were pretty blah

The second bite is always the best. All that creamy goodness becomes exposed to the outside world and there is not a god in this dimension who can save it.

I really hate it when that happens. Those indulgent calories should be totally worth it when it comes to taste but are often a bit of a letdown.

Your life is probably better without them.

Ewww I never did like Twinkies, but I'm pretty sure I was fueled by little more than Kool-Aid and Little Debbie snacks as a child. So gross to me now!
