Hot yoga workout

I’m interested to hear your thoughts and opinions about hot yoga as a strength building workout. I have some weight to lose, which I plan to do by eating at a calorie deficit, but I have also been getting back into 60 minute hot vinyasa flow classes and really enjoying them. In your experience, how effective is hot yoga at strength building and “toning”?
I’m aiming to go 3 times a week or so, and maybe supplement from home with an online flow class if/when the studio schedule doesn’t line up with my availability.

I love hot yoga! I have been practicing for about 8 years now very regularly. I think it is fantastic for strength. Yoga is one of those exercises where you really get what you put into it. It depends how intense the postures are, what postures you do, etc. There are so many different types of yoga and intensities. I personally have found great results with changing my body composition while losing by incorporating hot power yoga.
I definitely don't have as nice of a body (and booty) as someone who squats and uses weights, but I find it gives you a very lean, dancer like figure with good muscle definition.1
