Long Read - Sorry, Looking for some Tips :D

Hi all, If you don'nt want a long and Confusing Read, Please just change page. Thanks for attempting though.

This is just a explanation - Get it off my shoulders, Get some advice and move on.

So 2008 I was 18/19 at 14 Stone at 6 ft - Happy, Fit, Non Smoker YaY.

The "Adult Life"set in and things changed, I moved in with my Mrs, We moved 15 Foot away from a chinease. We would eat dinner, then get a "snack" From the chinese. and i stopped all excercise, was having 1 - 2 beers a night, and started playing video games ( I wont bore you with the whole effect on my relationship bla bla bla) Jobless and living this life style I got heavy, The weight was piling on. I thought nothing of it at the time, but it was a big mistake.

After nearlly 2 years of this, we moved ( FINALLY ) and then we went on Vacation and it hit me. Boom, 303 Pounds.... Jesus. WTF HAPPEND?!?

I decided to take on a diet, didnt stick to it, Decided to join gym, Didnt stick to, Decided to play football again - semi stuck it, I guess this is the spiral? I did this on and off for the last 2 nearlly 3 years.

Anyway, a couple months ago i decided to try again, with Success! I dropped 20+ Pounds, Then hit a Rut. Damn.

So weight at 280 - Again another vacation and horrible horrible pictures. LOOK WHAT I HAVE DONE TOMYSELF - Moment.

So for the last 1-2 Months I've been trying again. Trying and Trying. 2 weeks again I weighed in around 257 (YaY right?) .

I should add in that It's mainly work when I cheat - I wake up in the morning fully intending to go through the day on my diet - when i QUIT Smoking ( 15 days today Woop ) - now i can notice my fitness gaining alot. I would like some advice if possible.

I am smart and I have read and read all the stuff the "professionals" put up about it but I would like help from people that have been there.

ok here we go.

Question 1: I have just recently started going back to the gym, I'm trying to increase muscle mass, that inturn increases your motabilism - increasing calorie burn - Would this be a correct method? I do cardio after every weight session, maybe 20-40 minutes

Question 2: Can you help me with a Routine, Should 1 Rest day be enough? Currently I go to gym and a Saturday and Thursday following a weight lifting routine, I then play football Monday, Wednesday and Sunday.

Tuesday and Friday i do nothing. Using that info can you work me a routine to STICK TO? I like running also. Really like it now since i quit smoking it is so much easier.

Question 3: I'm eating the wrong things, Any advice to make eating easier, Like a simple guide or tools you have used?

Question 3: Im now currently 260 although I am slimmer, I am going to start measuring myself, What do you think would be better considering I am trying to gain muscle?

If your able to add any advice, Thank you, If not Its ok - At least I have got this out now.!

Well done on your losses so far! You've already identified what you need to do, and that is Stick With It.

Q1. Yes, muscle burns more calories, so strength training is a very good plan.
Q2. Running's great, and you can fit it in whenever you have time. Ask your gym about a routine.
Q3. Change your diary settings to public so we can make some suggestions.
    Q4. Measure AND weigh.

This is another Valid point, I dont really log my food, becuase I dont log when i cheat, so it makes it pointless, That might be a good rule, to log EVERYTHING, it would stop me cheating maybe...

From tomorrow, I will logg, will try make it public now.

Your here, you have put yourself out to be accountable
So make your diary public, log everything, you are only hurting YOU when you dont log and lie by omission

Youve already lost some, so keep going, own it!

    Good Luck with your journey!

Well, that's entirely up to you. I am more honest when my diary is private. I tried having it open for a year. The last 6 months it's been closed and I am totally honest. What's the point of lying to yourself? Your body keeps a very accurate record of what you eat and do - regardless of what you write down. :noway:

    Best Advice?

    Measure/weigh everything
Don't make too many drastic changes at once - gradually work in more healthy foods, but stay within your calories for the week
Find something you like to do and do it consistently;- lifting is good, football is active - whatever you like - just stick with it!
Don't keep starting and stopping. Just get up and do it every day. We all have bad days. Move on.

To use a football analogy - There is no goal line. This is for the rest of your life. When you start seeing it like this - you will succeed. Good luck!
